The act ended segregation public places and banned any type of discrimination on race, gender, sex, or national.

The American civil rights movement, based mainly in African American churches and colleges of the South, involved marches, boycotts, and extensive efforts of civil disobedience, such as sit-ins, as well as voter education and voting drives. 1964––The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson. This law prohibited discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, and gender. It allowed all citizens the right to enter any park, restroom, library, theater, and public building in the United States. One factor that prompted this law was the long.

ii. Unfortunately, Robinson faced intense racism from opposing teams and fans, and even from some of his own teammates. Being the first African American to join a major league team made him a target for racist remarks from every side. Despite the ongoing hate, he never let it effect his performance on the field. 'Robinson played in 151 games, hit .297, stole more bases than anyone else in the National League and was awarded the first-ever Rookie of the Year title. In 1949, Robinson, who had switched to playing second base, was named the National League's Most Valuable Player. The next year he became the Dodgers' highest paid player, earning a salary of $35,000.' (history.com). Although the reaction of fans, his teammates, and other MLB teams were all negative and against him, Jackie Robinson stayed focused on what he loved to do-play baseball.

iii. Within the same year, Larry Doby was the second African American to be allowed into MLB. He and Robinson were the first to break the color line, leading the way for others to follow. In the late 1940's, three other players had joined after them, and many more African Americans were integrated into historically white teams in the 1950's and onward. Jackie Robinson's refusal to back down in the face of racism opened the doors for a future of more African American athletes on professional teams.

Reflection: The importance of Jackie Robinson was completely new to me, and the way that he opened up the world of professional sports for all African American athletes after him. He and the other pioneers of desegregated sports teams are the reason why no one with the skill is turned down from a team, just because of their race.
